Many parents searching for the best international schools in Singapore face a common question when planning their child’s secondary school pathway: which curriculum is the right fit? In the early stages of their search, the Cambridge Advanced Level (A-Level) is a popular first choice for many families.
Among all international schools in Singapore, only a handful genuinely offer A-Level programmes. Understanding your options early — and planning ahead — is the key to finding the right school for your child.
A-Level is the British university preparatory qualification. More than 400,000 students sit for A-Levels globally each year, and over 80% of UK university entrants use it as their primary qualification. A-Levels allow students to focus in depth on three to four subjects — making it especially important for children targeting medicine, law, or engineering, as top UK universities have specific subject requirements for these programmes. For example, medicine requires high grades in Biology and Chemistry; engineering requires Mathematics and Physics. This subject specialisation is the core competitive advantage of the A-Level pathway.
Below is every international school in Singapore currently offering or preparing to offer A-Level programmes. All information is sourced from each school’s official website and current as of the 2025/2026 academic year. For families also comparing international vs local school options, read our guide.
Tanglin Trust School
| Address | 95 Portsdown Road (Buona Vista) |
| Annual Fees | SGD $34,770 – $55,734 |
| Academic Year | Starts August |
Established in 1925, Tanglin Trust School is the largest and oldest A-Level international school in Singapore — and the only school in Singapore that simultaneously offers both A-Level and IB Diploma pathways, giving children the flexibility to decide which route to take as late as Year 12.
In terms of results, 63% of A-Level grades in 2025 were A* or A, far exceeding the UK national average of 28.2%. Approximately 96% of graduates gained places at their first or second choice university. In the 2025 British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection, Tanglin again received the highest rating of “Outstanding” across all assessment categories — the only international school in Singapore to hold this certification.
Tanglin’s entry requirements are high, and the school does not provide English as an Additional Language (EAL) support. It is recommended that at least one parent is fluent in English to support the child’s learning. Strong English proficiency is a key prerequisite for admission. Places are highly sought after and managed through a waitpool system — families are advised to submit applications two to three years in advance.
Brighton College Singapore
| Address | 1 Chuan Lane (Serangoon) |
| Annual Fees | SGD $17,859 – $50,199 |
| Academic Year | Starts August |
The UK parent school of Brighton College ranked first in England for A-Level results in 2024, with 99.3% of grades at A*–B and 87% at A*–A, and and has won the Sunday Times ‘Best A-Level School of the Year’ award multiple times. The Singapore campus will officially open its Sixth Form (Year 12–13) in August 2026, bringing this educational tradition to Asia.
The programme offers 20 A-Level subjects, using a combination of Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel examination boards. Class sizes are capped at 15 students, with most teaching staff recruited from leading UK independent schools. Students begin Year 12 with four subjects, narrowing to three in Year 13 for final examinations. An Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is also available to strengthen UCAS university applications.
The Perse School Singapore
| Address | 58 Chestnut Drive (Bukit Timah) |
| Annual Fees | SGD $24,798 – $27,052 |
| Academic Year | Starts August |
Founded in Cambridge in 1615 with over 400 years of history, The Perse School has consistently ranked among the top five UK secondary schools for Oxford and Cambridge university admissions. The Singapore campus reopened in 2025, currently offering Kindergarten through Year 10. Year 11 is expected to follow in 2026, with A-Levels (Year 12) anticipated from 2027 at the earliest.
For a British-brand school in Singapore, annual fees of approximately SGD $26,000 represent strong value. The secondary school operates a 100% specialist teacher model, and no single nationality exceeds 30% of total enrolment, maintaining a genuinely international environment.
⚠ Important
The Perse Singapore only accepts applications from students holding a Dependant’s Pass (DP). Students on a Student’s Pass are not eligible to apply. Please confirm your child’s pass type before enquiring.
EtonHouse International School Orchard (International A-Levels)
| Address | 10 Tanglin Road (Orchard) |
| Annual Fees | SGD $35,090 – $42,194 |
| Academic Year | Starts August |
EtonHouse Orchard launched its International A-Level (IAL) programme in 2022, awarded by Pearson Edexcel. IAL carries the same standing as Cambridge A-Levels and is recognised by Oxford, Cambridge, and top universities worldwide. The main difference lies in the examination structure — IAL uses a modular system where students can sit papers in stages and resit individual modules, offering greater flexibility than the linear Cambridge A-Level format where all exams are taken at the end of the course.
The school offers 12 IAL subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, History, Geography, English Literature, Mandarin, and Art and Media Studies. With approximately 240 students across the whole school, class sizes are small and every teacher knows every student personally.
From Year 11, the school develops a personalised university pathway plan for each student, combining the student’s strengths with target university requirements to tailor their A-Level subject combination. This highly personalised approach helps students avoid subject mismatches, ensuring their chosen subjects directly meet the entry requirements of their target universities and programmes — strengthening their competitiveness in admissions.
Located in the heart of Orchard Road, the school is especially convenient for families living and working in the city centre.
Middleton International School Tampines
| Address | 2 Tampines Street 92 (Tampines) |
| Annual Fees | SGD $21,216 – $27,945 |
| Academic Year | January – December (local calendar) |
Founded by the EtonHouse Education Group, Middleton International School Tampines is one of the few international schools in eastern Singapore offering a complete A-Level programme. The school runs from Kindergarten through Grade 12 as a single all-through school, meaning parents do not need to manage school transitions at key academic milestones.
A-Level subjects include Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Business Studies, Psychology, History, Art and Design, English Literature, and Geography.
⚠ Important
Middleton follows the local Singapore academic calendar (January to December), with A-Level examinations held in October and November — not the May/June window used by UK-curriculum schools. Families planning to apply to UK universities through UCAS should understand how this timeline aligns with the UCAS application process before enrolling.

How SMTP Consult Can Help
Choosing an A-Level international school has no single standard answer. Every family’s situation is different — each child’s language background, age, and university target varies. SMTP Consult has guided many families through the process of finding and applying to the best international schools in Singapore. We help families find the path that is truly right for their child from among the many options available.
Our first step is a thorough meeting with the parents and child to fully understand the child’s academic background and family goals. We conduct assessment tests to confirm the child’s current English level and academic readiness, and from there shortlist the A-Level international schools that best meet their needs.
During the admission preparation phase, we provide targeted one-to-one coaching and guidance for each child, covering entrance exam preparation, mock tests, and focused practice, ensuring the child is in the strongest possible position for each school’s admission assessment.
Throughout the application process, we assist in gathering each school’s application materials, submitting applications, and arranging and accompanying school visits — giving parents and children a first-hand experience of each school’s environment and culture, so they have a clear and realistic understanding of the school before making their final decision.
Once an offer letter is received, we continue to assist with all follow-up matters, including student contract review, Student’s Pass applications, and all other administrative steps — ensuring the entire enrolment process runs smoothly and giving parents complete peace of mind.
